Growing Broccoli &/or Radish Microgreens

GROWING BROCCOLI & RADISH MICROGREENS
Quick Guide from Pfanny’s Farm

Supplies Needed:

  • Broccoli and radish microgreen seeds

  • Two shallow trays (one with drainage holes, one solid)

  • Growing medium: soil, coconut coir, or grow mat (we use potting soil)

  • Light source (sunlight or grow light)

  • Weight or lid for blackout period

Growing Steps:

  1. Prepare Tray:
Fill the tray (with drainage holes) with 1–1.5 inches of moist growing medium. Level and gently press down.

  2. Sow Seeds:
Evenly scatter seeds across the surface. Lightly press them in—do not cover with soil.

  3. Blackout Period (2–3 days):
Cover with an empty tray or lid and add a small weight. Keep in a dark area.
Water from the bottom by placing the tray into a solid tray with water for a few minutes, as needed.

  4. Light & Growth:
After 2–3 days, uncover and place under light.
Continue bottom watering daily or as needed to keep the growing medium moist.

  5. Harvest:

    • Radish: Ready in 5–7 days

    • Broccoli: Ready in 8–10 days
Harvest when 2–3 inches tall and before true leaves appear. Snip just above the soil line.

  6. Storage:
Gently blot dry. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Best enjoyed fresh within a few days.

Tips:

  • Radish is quick-growing and spicy.

  • Broccoli is mild and rich in antioxidants.

  • Perfect for salads, sandwiches, smoothies, and more!
