If you want quality, if you want authenticity, if you want to support a local producer, then you’ll be interested in our jams & jellies!
We raise and harvest the fruit ourselves, except for the plums; they are
foraged from a neighbor’s property (with permission of course). This allows us to be sure that there are no harmful chemicals involved.
We’ve scavenged for jelly jars and lids the past couple of years-yikes! They were
very hard to find for a while, and now their price has increased quite a bit 🙁 To be good stewards of our resources, we encourage you to return the jelly jars and rings to us, but please, whatever you do, don’t throw them away!
Heritage Grape: We really have no idea what kind of grapes they are. Our vines
were started from slips taken from Gene’s dad’s grape vines. When fully ripe, their taste is comparable to a grape Jolly Rancher candy-no kidding! I didn’t even know that was a real flavor!
Rarin’ Raspberry: Made with Encore raspberries that we started many years ago.
They produce heavily in early summer. I have to fend off the mosquitos to get them picked. They become so annoying that I actually purchased mosquito gear!
Our chickens wait anxiously for any that I deem unworthy for jelly 🙂
It tastes fantastic on homemade biscuits.
Wild Plum: They say it’s who you know that counts, and we are glad to know a
few neighbors who are willing to let us forage for plums in their pastures!
Homemade bread, toasted and smeared with Wild Plum jelly is the best!
Elderberry: Trust us, you don’t want to eat elderberries just plain.
Their flavor is often described as bitter or earthy. They are packed with antioxidants and vitamins though, so ignore the sugar listing on the label and convince yourself that this delicious jelly is good for you.
Besides, it tastes great! 🙂
Strawberry: You just can’t beat strawberry jam…it makes a great ice cream topping, and is fantastic on a jelly & peanut butter sandwich 🙂 The strawberry beds are inside one of our high tunnels so our June bearers actually produce heavily in May-nothing better than strawberries…except the FIRST strawberries!
