I am so excited to be hosting our very first book discussion!
And why wouldn’t I be? Books and food…how can it get better than that!?!
Lied Randolph Public Library is collaborating with us in this endeavor and will have several books available to check out. Books and supply purchases were made possible through a Thrivent Action Team grant. We extend our gratitude to this organization for sharing its resources.
If you would like to purchase a book through Amazon AND help us out a little bit at the same time, use this link: Blessing the Hands that Feed Us
And, if you are like me, and find it easier to listen to an audiobook while you work or drive, then you can find a link to the Audible version here.
When you make a purchase after entering Amazon through these links, we may receive a small commission at no extra expense to you.
We appreciate that! 🙂
Blurb from the book cover:
Taking the local food movement to heart, New York Times Bestselling Author Vicki Robin pledged for one month to eat only food sourced within a 10-mile radius of her home on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, Washington. Her sustainable diet not only brings to light society’s unhealthy dependency on mass-produced, prepackaged foods but also helps her reconnect with her body and her environment.
Now for the details…
IF you pick up a book from the Lied Randolph Public Library, check inside the front cover…if you see a special sticker “Marginalia Approved!” that means you can actually write in the book-and you should! Or if you purchase your own copy-it’s all yours to do with as you please! Now, this is a relatively new concept for many of us. We were always taught to NOT write in books correct? Check out this blog post about Marginalia…it explains a lot. So, I encourage you to live on the wild side, and join in on the fun!
The book discussion, a quick tour of the farm, and a potluck supper will be held here on June 12th beginning @ 6:30 p.m.
You can use the book to inspire your REAL food contribution to the meal!
Pfanny’s Farm will provide the table service and flavored water.
We ask that you bring a lawn chair and your choice of adult beverage IF you are old enough and want something other than water.
And please, if you are feeling shy about the book discussion part, know that this is VERY informal! We promise we won’t put you on the spot!
We are a pretty relaxed bunch around here 🙂
Please let us know that you will be attending so we are sure to have enough supplies.
